SPIRIT AND OPPORTUNITY: NOTES ON WORKING TOGETHER

Collaboration can be a fairly mysterious process; an elusive balance of sensibilities between artists. Visual artist Chris Doyle and Headlong's own Amy Smith will discuss several of their collaborative experiments and talk about the process as they begin their work together on Red Rovers, a performance work that takes as its starting point the exploration of the Martian landscape by the NASA robot rovers "Spirit" and "Opportunity." The evening will include screening of videos on which Doyle and Headlong have collaborated. IMAGE: Detail from Chris Doyle's Apocalpyse Management, 2009.

We are doing more than ever now and we are proud of how we are weathering the economic crisis with creativity and gumption. In many ways, we actually feel that these times are potentially more suited to our values and we are excited to feel ourselves as a community of citizens rather than consumers. But revenue in Headlong is down this year as foundations and individuals cut back, which affects our ability to bring our work and our values into the world. So if you can, please donate to Headlong and we promise to keep making wise decisions with your money and making the most excellent work possible. Thank you!
